A time-indexed LP-based approach for min-sum job-shop problems

چکیده
In this paper we propose two time-indexed IP formulations for job-shop scheduling problems with a min-sum objective. The first model has variables associated to job scheduling patterns. The exponential number of variables calls for a column generation scheme which is carried out by a dynamic programming procedure. The second model is of network flow type with side constraints. This model can be strengthened by adding cutting inequalities of clique type. It turns out that the two models are equivalent, since the dual of the second formulation is equivalent to the compact dual of the first model. However, they require significantly different solution approaches and may behave differently in terms of computing time and memory usage. Good upper bounds are found by a heuristic procedure that randomly generates schedules from fractional solutions. These features allow for an effective pruning of the branch-and-bound tree and narrowing the gap between lower and upper bounds. However, the size of both models is critically affected by the timeindexed formulation which may heavily slow down the computation.

A Hybrid Approach for Fuzzy Just-In-Time Flow Shop Scheduling with Limited Buffers and Deteriorating Jobs
This paper investigates the problem of just-in-time permutation flow shop scheduling with limited buffers and linear job deterioration in an uncertain environment. The fuzzy set theory is applied to describe this situation. A novel mixed-integer nonlinear program is presented to minimize the weighted sum of fuzzy earliness and tardiness penalties. Due to the computational complexities, the prop...
متن کاملFlexible job shop scheduling under availability constraints
In this paper, an exact geometric algorithm is presented for solving two-job sequencing and scheduling problems in flexible flow shop and job shop environments while the resources are (un)available in some time periods and processors (un)availability is the same in all work centers. This study seems utterly new and it is applicable to any performance measure based on the completion time. The in...

In this paper, teaching–learning-based optimization (TLBO) is proposed to solve flexible job shop scheduling problem (FJSP) based on the integrated approach with an objective to minimize makespan. An FJSP is an extension of basic job-shop scheduling problem. There are two sub problems in FJSP. They are routing problem and sequencing problem. If both the sub problems are solved simultaneously, t...
متن کاملA Mathematical Programming Model for Flow Shop Scheduling Problems for Considering Just in Time Production
In this paper, we consider a flow shop scheduling problem with bypass consideration for minimizing the sum of earliness and tardiness costs. We propose a new mathematical modeling to formulate this problem. There are several constraints which are involved in our modeling such as the due date of jobs, the job ready times, the earliness and the tardiness cost of jobs, and so on. We apply adapte...
متن کاملAn algorithm for multi-objective job shop scheduling problem
Scheduling for job shop is very important in both fields of production management and combinatorial op-timization. However, it is quite difficult to achieve an optimal solution to this problem with traditional opti-mization approaches owing to the high computational complexity. The combination of several optimization criteria induces additional complexity and new problems. In this paper, we pro...
